How to List a Single Editioned Work
When listing an editioned work for sale, you must include both the edition size and the edition number for the unique piece. Images must be of the exact work for sale, and you must have the image rights. We require this information because it can impact the value of the work, and works without this information may not be covered by our Seller Protection.
How to List Multiples from the Same Edition
When listing an editioned work for sale, it is likely that you may have more than one work from the edition available. Detailed below are Artsy best practices to ensure you are listing your works correctly and collectors understand what they are purchasing.
Complete the artwork edit form as you would for any artwork. See the Artwork Information Guidelines for more details.
Artsy allows you to list multiples from the same edition under the same listing through the use of edition set fields.
When selecting an image for such a listing, please be sure that the following is true:
- If the image shows an edition number, you must note in the “additional information” section that the specific edition number shown may not be the same as the one received.
- Please note that this is only allowed if you have multiples from the same edition available. If you only have one work from an edition, then the image must depict the work in question.
- The image accurately depicts the work for sale.
- You are the rights holder for the image or have express written permission from the rights holder to use the image on Artsy.
Note: If the works are of differing conditions, then each must be listed separately.
To fill out the edition fields, please follow the instructions below:
When Limited Edition, Open Edition, or Unknown Edition is selected, the “Edition details” fields will then appear for you to fill out.
Note: The edition field input should always start with a number (e.g., "50 + 2AP"). If the field starts with a word (e.g., "Edition of 50 + 2AP"), the work will get downranked.
Size of edition -Enter the full edition size. For example, if a work is from an edition of 150, enter “150.”
Inventory Quantity - Enter the number of works from the edition you have available. For example, if you have 5 works from an edition of 150, enter “5.”
Please note, under Buy Now and Make Offer options, this number will adjust automatically when you make a sale.
Available works - Enter the edition numbers you currently have available for sale. For example, if you have numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 from an edition of 150, you may list them as either “5, 6, 7, 8, 9” or “5-9.”
Please note that this field is static, so upon selling a work from this edition, you must manually go adjust the numbers available. For example, if you sell number 5/150 from the aforementioned example, you must amend this field to either “6,7,8,9” or “6-9.”
Proofs - Enter the number of Artist Proofs (if any) for the edition.
